Damien Redmond This is a lovely song- I enjoyed learning about your school's ethos. Also, being a big fan of The Moonflowers and Praise Space Electric is an added bonus. Thank you!

about

One Family has been written by children from Blackhorse Primary School, Bristol in collaboration with Jesse D Vernon and Sam Leyden. It is based on a song sung by children in Hosanna Primary school, Uganda (which can be heard at the end of the song).

Here's the link for the video:

As well as writing most of the lyrics and tune for the song, the children also play almost all the instruments on the single, including violins, keyboards, trombones and a water gong! The whole school appears on the recording.

All money from downloads of the recording will go towards creating a library for children at our partner school, Hosanna Primary School, which is in the district of Kampala, Uganda.

lyrics

[VERSE]
Welcome to our school
It's called Blackhorse Primary
We are a great community
And school family
We're friends with another school
And it is in Uganda
We've written this song for them
So here's to you Hosanna!

[CHORUS]
We are the children of Blackhorse School
Singing for Uganda
We are the children of Blackhorse school
And we are One Family

[VERSE]
I was a bit scared to speak
On my first day
I was scared to hold the snake
But did it anyway

We're here to learn and to have fun
To meet friends and make more
When you're scared just face your fear
And open up the door!

[CHORUS]
We are the children of Blackhorse School
Singing for Uganda
We are the children of Blackhorse school
And we are One Family

[Rap]
RESPECT : That's what we al can expect
BRAVERY: Try to do what you do amazingly
PRIDE: A way to make your smile a mile wide
SUCCESS: That's what you get when you try to do your best

[outro by the children of Hosanna School, Uganda]

We are the chosen living nation
Shining before the Lord
Sing Halleluyah
We are to shine and shine again
Believe in the name of the Lord
To show the world that
We are one family
